The internet-of-things is the next big thing

IoT is a buzzword which has gained a lot of media attention and traction over the previous few years. During the end of 2017, 8.4 million IoT devices were in active usage, a significant increase from the usage statistics in 2016. This figure is expected to grow at a consistent rate until 2020.

The internet-of-things is set to revolutionize the way we look at and interact with our technology. Connected objects first in line to get the IoT treatment are consumer electronics. IoT also has applications for mundane home devices such as air purifiers, some detectors, and light bulbs. The data leveraged from connected devices can be used to enhance user experiences and understand the ways in which human beings experience technology.
